Alphabetype

Working on a new project at college for the Spring Term, been looking forward to this one more than most because of its relation to typography, a particular interest of mine.
'This is a project about discovering how type can be fun, create and different. Your task is to create your very own alphabet based on a subject you pick.'

What scope to play around with, I started to look at using Indian ink and wood (as a mark making tool) to create some textures. I would just press the wood over letters i had cut out of Gaffer tape and cover the lot in ink.

The Gaffer tape stayed wet with ink on one side so i just flipped that over and slapped it back down, pushing hard on the top with another piece of wood to flatten it out.
